Carbon fiber tows on spools and bobbins, 3K to 24K and larger.

Carbon Fiber Tow Specifications
| Property | Range / option | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Tow size | 3K – 24K and larger | Lower counts drape better; higher counts process faster |
| Grade | Standard modulus to high modulus | Grade drives stiffness and price |
| Sizing | Sized / unsized | Epoxy-compatible sizing standard |
| Form | Spool, bobbin, creel-ready | 48K large tow available on creel |
| Typical use | Weaving, prepreg, filament winding, chopping | Downstream form determines sizing choice |
Ranges marked “confirmed per grade” are set by reinforcement and resin selection; send us your target specification and we confirm what we can supply.
Tow size decides the downstream process
Lower counts — 3K and 6K — spread and drape better, which makes them the usual choice for fine weaving, cosmetic surfaces and narrow prepreg tape. Higher counts from 12K to 24K and beyond process faster and cost less per kilo of fibre, which is why they dominate structural weaving, pultrusion and filament winding. 48K large tow is available on creel where the run justifies it.
Sizing has to match the matrix
A tow is not finished until the sizing is chosen. Epoxy-compatible sizing is our standard, because most of what we supply ends up in an epoxy or vinyl ester system. A thermoplastic matrix — PP, PA6, PPS — needs a size that survives melt processing and bonds to a non-reactive polymer, which is a different chemistry. Ordering the right tow with the wrong size is the most expensive mistake in this product line.
From tow to fabric to prepreg
Tow is the input, not usually the finished product. It becomes carbon fiber fabrics when it is woven, unidirectional tape when it is spread and impregnated, and chopped carbon fiber when it is cut. Specifying at the tow stage only makes sense when you control the next step yourself.
